So here's the deal. Bought a brand-new 2023 Nissan Rogue Platinum AWD. Hardly got to enjoy it before a deer smashed into me. Now, I've got $17K in damage. I have insurance that should replace the car if it's totaled, but instead, they're pushing to repair it. The estimate is from a collision shop the dealership recommended, and I'm not feeling good about it. What's bothering me is why they won't total it—this much damage should be an obvious case, right? Has anyone fought their insurance on this and actually won? Also, the Rogue is packed with cameras, sensors, and driver-assist tech, so how can I be sure this shop can properly recalibrate everything? They say they'll use OEM parts, but how can I trust they aren't cutting corners with refurbished or aftermarket parts? Can I bring in a third-party inspector to check the repairs, or will insurance stop me from doing that? I also paid for an extended warranty, but will that still be valid after all this damage and repair work done by a non-Nissan shop? And what if something fails later, like the sensors or cruise control—who's responsible for fixing it then? The shop, insurance, or Nissan? Finally, would it be a good idea to take my Rogue to Nissan and have them double-check the repairs? I just don't want to end up with issues down the line because things weren't fixed right. Anyone been through this? What would you do in my situation?
