new Nissan Rogue AWD shifting issue

My MIL has a 2024 Nissan Rogue AWD with a really strange issue. When she's driving super slowly in a parking lot, or even when she's just stopped with her foot on the brake, the car randomly switches from D (Drive) to 1 (Manual Mode).

She took it to the Nissan dealership, but they couldn't reproduce it, and now they're waiting on a response from Nissan's tech support. She's getting worried that it might happen while she's on the highway.

Has anyone else experienced this with their Rogue? We're trying to figure out if this is a known bug or just a one off issue.

I think there might be a problem with the shift selector sensor or possibly a glitch in the CVT control module. Make sure to keep track of when these issues occur, and don't hesitate to ask your dealer about any software updates or Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). The highway driving shouldn't be impacted, as manual mode is working just fine.

That’s definitely a weird one, especially since it’s happening at a stop or low speeds. I agree with @GoneRogue on checking for TSBs or software updates, and also ask the dealer to document it even if they can’t reproduce it yet since it’s now late 2025 going into 2026.
