Why oil change shop turned away my rogue

Took my '22 Nissan Rogue in for a quick oil change at a place I've used quite a few times, and they wouldn't even put it on the rack. Apparently the guy at the counter said their company has a do not service list, and certain newer Rogues with 3 cyl turbo are on it. According to him, the factory drain plug washer, a thin, hardened alloy ring can sometimes crack when removed. If it breaks, they can't just swap in a generic one, and the Nissan specific part isn't something they carry. Worst case, they'd have to order it in, which could leave the car stuck in their shop for days.

They told me they've already had a few Rogue owners in that situation, so now they just send everyone straight to the dealer to avoid the hassle. First time I've ever had a shop flat out refuse to do an oil change. Thought to share this with the community

Wow, I didn't know shops had "do not service" lists so thanks for this heads-up. Is this kind of washer issue common with other newer models too? And if you go to the dealer, do they usually keep that part in stock or is it still a wait?

What?! I'm no car expert, but this seems like bullcrap. I took my 23 to the shop last week and they did the service with no issues, replaced the washer and I was on my way. I have the 3 cylinder engine as well, so I'm not sure why you had this experience.

Interesting share, and yeah I’ve heard a few quick lube chains started getting extra cautious with the newer 3 cyl Rogues. @Tyurgi it usually comes down to shop policy more than a guaranteed problem, and dealers almost always have that washer in stock since they see these cars daily.
